Be Glamourous. Every Day.

By now Rachel Zoe has become as much a household name as any high-profile celebrity except...she's the one styling them. A psychology major from George Washington University, Rachel Zoe began freelancing and quickly became the stylist to the stars. Known for her "boho chic" look, it was only a matter of time before she allowed any of us to be "styled" by her with her very own Rachel Zoe collection.

You can check it out on Bloomingdale's site which happens to have a pretty cool integrated experience on the main collection page (thank you Jamie E. for the tidbit!)

http://www1.bloomingdales.com/photo-galleries/rachel-zoe-lookbook.jsp

Don't be surprised at the sudden runway music blasting through your speakers, it's the background sound to the site filled with animated GIFs (who ever thought those would be popular again?) of fashionable women in every day situations. Click on any frame of the look book and you'll be fully immersed where you can find out all about the outfit.

If you're in the look book make sure to skip to the last frame where Rachel chats with Bloomingdale's Fashion Director about her childhood dream of being featured in the store.

The director's cut further expands the stories featured in the look book and for those who love music as much as I do, the soundtrack is Bag Raiders- Shooting Stars. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feA64wXhbjo ) Great song!

Of course I can't sign off without mentioning that my favorite outfit is the below. While I'm not sure I'll be wearing it to do my laundry on Saturday, the sequined jacket over a classic black ensemble clearly demonstrates Rachel Zoe's "Be Glamorous. Every Day" motto.

And on that note, I'm off to be glam.

Italy, Museums and Gucci

Of course you think museums and Gucci when you think of Italy, but have you ever thought of them as one? Well now you can. Gucci has opened its own brand museum in the heart of Florence for all fashion lovers to be able to stroll the hallways and indulge in the history of such an iconic designer.

"The museum, housed in a 14th-century building in the Piazza della Signoria, is designed to honor the company’s leather goods legacy and to bring it into the 21st century by juxtaposing the innovation of bamboo-handled bags or luxe sports equipment with modern art." -The New York Times. For the full article: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/28/fashion/gucci-opens-a-brand-museum-in-florence.html

If you're dying to know what the inside is like, here's the breakdown:
-First floor: Travel: trunks, suitcases, accessories and more created in the 1950s, '60s and '70s
-Second floor: Other brand themes: handbags, evening wear, red carpet gowns and rare pieces
-Third floor: Logomania: all about the double-G monogram and iconic leisure and sporting pieces

The Gucci museum is open to the general public as of today. Admission is six euros, and 50% of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the City of Florence fund dedicated to preserving the city's art.

What a great excuse to book your flight to Italia. See you there bellas.

New Year, New Blog

So blogging turned out to be harder than I thought but luckily with a new year comes a new blog and a new chance to give it a try again. Although I thought "pretty little crumpet" was a cute name, after much criticism from my friends poking fun, my fellow coworker Lauren Parker brought to light the idea to capitalize on an often used, ridiculous word "totes." Short for "totally" you might hear this in response to something you absolutely can't turn down. "Do you want to get froyo after work?"  response: "totes!! totes froyo!".

So why not totes fashion then? because we all know we would never turn that down.
